the

rooms

Decoriq is a quiet, senior-led interior architecture studio working between Dubai and the San Francisco Bay Area since 2010.

Our story

We started with a conviction that a home should feel inevitable. Fifteen years on, we still draw every room by hand first, still choose every stone ourselves, and still believe the most luxurious thing a space can offer is calm.

The founder

Elias

Varenne

Trained as an architect in Lausanne and Los Angeles, Elias founded Decoriq after a decade restoring mid-century houses in the Bay Area, where he learned that interiors are won in the details nobody photographs.

Today he leads every commission personally in its first and last month: the brief, and the handover.

What we believe

Four

values

01

Restraint

We remove until what remains is necessary, then we make that beautiful.

02

Material truth

Real stone, solid timber, hand-finished metal. Nothing pretends to be something else.

03

Light first

Every room is planned around daylight at three hours of the day, then lit for the evening.

04

Made to last

Joinery detailed for decades. We design interiors that age into themselves.

Since 2010

Our

journey

2010

Dark kitchen with a ribbon light sculpture and green stools

Palo Alto

A one-room studio on University Avenue and a single client: a family who wanted their kitchen to feel like a gallery.

2014

Reception with a timber wall and a stone desk

First hotel lobby

Our first hospitality commission, and the discovery that warmth scales from a home to a hundred guests.

2017

Dining table under a globe chandelier against walnut panelling

Dubai opens

Jumeirah Bay Island becomes our second studio. Marble, bronze and light meet California restraint.

2021

Oak staircase with a glowing handrail light

Design + build

We bring joinery, stone and site teams in-house, so what is drawn is exactly what is built.

2024

Lounge with a ring chandelier and curved sofas

Hospitality award

Lobby of the year, and a waiting list that now runs eighteen months.

2026

Spacious bedroom suite with a curved armchair and a timber-panelled wall

Marina Penthouse

Our largest private residence to date: 640 m² facing the water at sunset.

The

people

Thirty-two architects, designers, makers and project managers. A few of the hands behind the work.
