The case for a darker dining room is a question we return to on almost every project. The answer is rarely a single decision: it is a handful of small, deliberate choices made early and protected through the build.
Start with the room
Before any material is chosen we spend time in the space at different hours. How the light enters, where people naturally gather and which walls stay quiet tell us more than any mood board.
From there the palette follows. We limit each room to one dominant material and two supporting ones, so the eye always has somewhere to rest.
Light falls differently on timber. It arrives softer and leaves warmer.
Detail it once, properly
Joinery, lighting and acoustic treatment are drawn together rather than in sequence. That is what lets a finished room feel calm: nothing competes, and nothing was added at the last minute.
